In the beginning…

I’m a nerd. I will be the first to tell you this in person. I geek out on many things, one being science and chemistry. I am fascinated with how nature interacts with itself to create beautiful things. The way wood barrels can age whiskey and make it taste like cinnamon or grilled peaches. The way that trees gives back to the earth more natural resources than they consume. And what got me into specialty coffee… the fact that I’ve had coffee that tasted like someone dropped a strawberry into the cup and the reason it tastes that way is the chemical compounds in the soil, the temperature and humidity of the region, and most importantly, the elevation of the farm.

We will talk much more about this in the coming days. I want to use this section of the site to offer education about coffee, where it comes from, different ways to brew and drink it, and how it gets from a seed in the ground to a delicious beverage in your cup.
